Okay so I don't know how into Tugs you are, but I've been thinking about it like all day yesterday and I Love love love Atlas I think she's so cute and I really just want to know more about her lol.

Like, I wanna know how all the star fleet interact with her and the Zeds view.

Gosh where do I begin…

So Atlas Star, daughter of Captain Star is a spitfire of a child who seeks adventure. She has an affinity for animals, I mean her best friend is a seal named Freckles.

Her favorite activities is collecting treasures on the sea floor and exploring the river. She’s an outdoorsy kiddo who sometimes pretends she’s a survivalist.

Hercules and Tencents are like her brothers and often time she’s with Tencents or Sunshine on an adventure.

Lately she’s been learning to speak Welsh from O.J. And loves to listen to his stories as she dozes off in the sun leaning on his railing.

Her and Grampus love to dive and she goes on little rides with him, sometimes they like to spy on the Zeds to make sure they’re not up to something.

Big Mac is often the one who tells her off when she’s about to do something dangerous and often times she’s well to listen, she looks up to him.

Top Hat and Atlas are a fun duo, she thinks he’s silly most of the time but also respects him. He thinks she’s a bit too much of a ruffian but admires her bravery and steel.

Warrior is like an uncle to Atlas and she loves to share her stories or treasures with him. The two are a lot alike. She learned a lot about work ethic from him.

Overall the Star Fleet is her family and when she gets out of school or any free moment she has she’s in the water.

As for the Zeds they don’t pay too much mind to her but her antics and spying can often annoy them.

Captain Zero is always telling Star off about keeping “The Little Rugrat” away from his docks, lol. However he can’t help but be a little fond of her rebellious and bold attitude. It’s a rare attribute.

Zorran couldn’t be more annoyed with her, she’s foiled a plan or two of his due to her spying antics with Grampus. Imagine a child being your rival.

Zak and and Zug don’t have much of an opinion on her beyond just finding her irritating and meddlesome.

Zip won’t get near her since the harpoon incident one faithful night of him trying to be up to no good as orders from Zorran. Got him pretty good with it… He pretends to hate her but honestly he’s scared she knows how to sink him.

Zebedee and Atlas have an equal stand, he has no outward opinion but that’s because she saved him during a storm when visibility was low. She saw him but he didn’t see the rocks of the shallower waters. With her handy flare she fired it off and yelled out to him to turn starboard. In nick of time too because otherwise he’d been turned into toothpicks.

Overall the Zeds view her no better than the rest of the Stars. Except for Zebedee, he owes her one bit time.

And… that’s pretty much it.

Of course her and her dad are as close as can be, he may not be perfect, but to Atlas he’s her whole world… Minus well be the best dad ever.

So I've been re-reading "The Raven and the Snake" and I love Clora and Seb together. Unfortunately, I am not much of an artist - unless you count stick figures wearing top hats as art - but it has inspired me to get back into writing. So I guess my ask is, if I wrote something inspired by Clora/Seb, would you be okay if I posted it?

Straw marquetry! Okay, full disclaimer up front, i still barely know what I'm doing here. This is a craft with limited educational resources, and a lot of the inspiration pictures are from high-end french ateliers. But those pictures are SO pretty, plus the cost of buying a bunch of straw is much gentler than the cost of buying a bunch of wood veneer, and the shiny finish activates ALL the corvid instincts in my brain

The rough idea here is that you split and flatten stalks of straw, glue them to a substrate, square up the edges while the glue is still wet, and continue onward. If you want to pursue marquetry in the wood tradition, you can escalate to cutting pictures out of this and piecing them together (fundamentally, if you can't buy your own veneer, homemade is fine), but you can also do a lot just with geometric patterns and the natural color variation of the straw right on your working surface. I have a bunch of fancy empty frames i idly want to fill, so that's what I went with! Also I decided to make my own mat for ???? reasons, ahahaha

My frame opening was about 22x28 inches, so this was a lot of surface area for a first project! But I learned a lot along the way, things like 'oh my god why would you start from the outside instead of the inside' and 'wow small motifs sure are easier than big ones,' but that was part of the goal here! It's hard to identify the things you don't know without wading in and getting your hands dirty. And I had SUCH a fabulous time with this. I ran out of my primary color five triangles from the end, and had to order more, and you know I ordered additional straw for future projects

I might be starting one as soon as I post this, honestly. Because this one is done! It doesn't have a home on my wall yet, I'm still considering locations, but it's all nice and cozy in its frame and I love it so so much. And I'm including a short video showing off its shine, because no still image is ever going to fully do it justice

What types of music do your ocs like the most?

It’s been covered that Whisper is a fan of rock, metal, and anything loud.

Mouse would like pop music.

Clementine loves bluegrass, folk, and country music.

Virtue very surprisingly enjoys calm classical songs but is also well into jazz music too. Very instrumental type of lady.

Atlas Star loves a good shanty, Welsh folk music (mainly the lullabies O.J. may sing to her), and also jazz.

And everyone laughs because they know she would never harm a fly let alone one of her most beloved sisters. Brief Encounter, a 1945 romantic tragedy. Really, really visually gorgeous film and one of the most romantic spark-of-love scenes ever. The tragedy of two ships (or trains) passing in the night.

Honestly? I've always really loved the romance in The Sound of Music. When the Captain and Maria are waltzing. When the Captain turns his back in the dance with a flash of doubt, only to smile when he feels Maria's hand find his. When they come to a stop and stare into each other's eyes and realize in horror that they're in love, and the vaseline on the lens is working double-time to make it one of the most glowy, schmaltzy shots in film history (Literally the inspiration for that one moment in my Rarijack fic).

And obviously all the classics. Casa Blanca, Roman Holiday, The Apartment (one of the best subtle twists in film history),
